Sales resume example with quota, cycle, and segment

Sales resumes are read against a scoreboard: quota, attainment, deal size, cycle length, and segment. Anything else is context. State the numbers with the period they cover.

A summary that carries a number

Mid-market account executive selling a $12k–$40k annual contract with a 45-day average cycle. Finished the last two years at 107% and 118% of quota, with roughly 60% of pipeline self-sourced.

Replace every figure with your own. If you never tracked the metric, use the scale you can defend — team size, volume per shift, contract size, or how long the situation lasted.

Keywords a sales representative search looks for

  • quota attainment
  • account executive
  • mid-market
  • pipeline generation
  • Salesforce
  • outbound prospecting
  • discovery calls
  • contract negotiation
  • forecast accuracy
  • renewals

Use the ones that are true of your work, spelled the way the posting spells them. Skills belong in a plain list with one item per entry — icon rows and rating bars frequently extract as a single unreadable string.

Five bullets to adapt

  • Closed 34 new logos in the last fiscal year at an average contract value of $19k.
  • Reached 118% of an $840k annual quota, finishing in the top third of a 22-person team.
  • Self-sourced 60% of pipeline through outbound sequences and partner referrals.
  • Shortened average cycle from 62 to 45 days by tightening the discovery-to-demo handoff.
  • Held forecast accuracy within 8% across four consecutive quarters.

Quota, attainment, and period — always together

"118% of quota" means nothing without the quota and the period. "118% of an $840k annual quota, fiscal year 2025" survives a reference check and answers the reader’s real question about deal size.

Segment and motion decide the fit

SMB inbound and enterprise field sales are different jobs. State the segment (SMB, mid-market, enterprise), the average contract value, and whether pipeline was self-sourced or marketing-supplied.

Describe process, not slogans

Replace "hunter mentality" with the mechanics: sequence length, calls per week, discovery structure, or the handoff change that shortened the cycle. Process claims are checkable and transferable.

Questions about this page

What if I missed quota?
State the attainment honestly and add context that is factual: a territory change, a product transition, or a ramp period. One missed year explained plainly reads better than a gap in the timeline.
Should I include a brag file or deal list?
Keep the resume to the strongest three or four numbers, then bring the detailed deal list to the interview. A long appendix invites nitpicking and can expose customer names you should not share.
How do I move from SDR to AE?
Show closing-adjacent evidence: meetings accepted per month, sourced pipeline that converted, and any deals you supported end to end. Then state the transition goal in the summary so the reader knows what role you want.
